As we continue to expand and evolve, we’re seeking a seasoned Tax Director to join our high-performing Finance team. In this critical leadership role, you’ll oversee all aspects of federal and state income and indirect tax compliance, lead strategic tax planning initiatives, and ensure the financial integrity of our growing organization.

Lead all aspects of federal and multi-state income tax compliance, ensuring timely and accurate filings, estimated payments, extensions, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Oversee indirect tax functions including sales and use tax, property tax, and gross receipts tax, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for process and cost efficiencies.
Develop and execute strategic tax planning initiatives to optimize Carenet’s tax position while ensuring full compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Direct the preparation and review of quarterly and annual income tax provisions (ASC 740), including deferred tax calculations, tax disclosures, and internal reporting requirements.
Serve as the primary liaison for external tax advisors, consultants, and auditors, providing guidance, documentation, and oversight throughout audits and tax engagements.
Lead tax due diligence and integration efforts related to mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions, offering expertise on structure, risk, and optimization opportunities.
Maintain and manage tax compliance systems and software, ensuring alignment with broader financial systems for accurate data and reporting.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across accounting, finance, legal, and operations to provide expert guidance on tax implications for business initiatives and strategic planning.
Build and lead tax reporting frameworks and analytics to inform leadership and drive proactive tax strategy.
Stay current on federal and state tax legislation, regulatory changes, and industry trends, communicating key updates and ensuring organizational readiness.
Manage vendor relationships, ensuring quality, timely, and cost-effective deliverables from both domestic and international tax service providers.
Mentor and support finance team members, fostering tax knowledge development and high performance within the organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s strongly preferred
10+ years of progressive tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax environment
Active CPA license in Texas is required
Proven expertise in federal and state income/franchise taxes
Experience managing indirect taxes and third-party payroll tax vendors
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas)
Familiarity with various tax-related software tools
Strong analytical, research, and communication skills
Ability to lead and manage multiple complex projects under tight deadlines
