Responsibilities

As our Tax Director, you’ll oversee the full tax landscape of the organization, from compliance and reporting to planning and strategy. In this role, you’ll:

  • Lead federal and multi-state income tax compliance, ensuring timely, accurate filings and payments.
  • Oversee estimated and extension income tax payments and related returns.
  • Manage indirect tax functions, including property, sales, and use taxes.
  • Conduct research and planning to help minimize the company’s overall tax burden.
  • Manage third-party payroll tax filings and maintain vendor relationships domestically and internationally.
  • Oversee income tax accounting, including provision preparation, account reconciliation, and journal entries.
  • Support state and federal tax audits and respond to inquiries with clarity and confidence.
  • Lead tax planning for mergers and acquisitions, providing strategic insight and risk analysis.
  • Maintain and manage federal and state compliance software, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure seamless reporting, high-quality results, and strong alignment with company objectives.
  • (Bonus) Treasury experience, managing cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, or capital planning is a plus and would complement this role’s financial leadership scope.

Qualifications

What You Bring

Education & Credentials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting (required)
  • Master’s in Taxation (strongly preferred)
  • CPA designation (preferred)

Experience & Expertise

  • 10+ years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
  • Deep knowledge of S-Corporation tax structures and pass-through compliance.
  • Proven experience managing multi-state filings and reporting.
  • Familiarity with Treasury functions is strongly preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with tax software systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, able to translate complex tax matters into clear, actionable insights.
  • Experience with international tax matters is a plus.
  • Adept at writing professional reports, procedures, and correspondence.
  • Confident presenting information and responding to questions from leaders, clients, and peers.
