What does this Role Contribute to Carenet?

 

The Infrastructure & Network Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, and continuous improvement of Carenet's enterprise infrastructure environments, including server, virtualization, identity, cloud-connected, and network services. This role ensures secure, reliable, and scalable technology platforms that support business operations across on-premises and cloud environments. The engineer serves as a technical resource for infrastructure operations, hybrid connectivity, network services, and cloud-integrated technologies, helping maintain service availability, operational efficiency, and operational resiliency.

 

This role strengthens Carenet's operational performance by proactively monitoring enterprise systems, resolving complex network and infrastructure issues, supporting technology implementations, and partnering with architecture, security, cloud, and operations teams. Through strong technical expertise, problem-solving, and operational discipline, Network & Infrastructure Engineer helps reduce operational risk, improve service reliability, and support future business growth.

 

How will Success in this Role be Measured?

  1. Infrastructure Stability & Operational Excellence
  2. Core infrastructure services such as Active Directory, EntraID, Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, virtualization, and hybrid connectivity remain stable, secure, and operational.
  3. Network Availability & Reliability - Enterprise network services consistently meet availability, performance, and connectivity objectives with minimal service disruptions.
  1. Incident Resolution & Problem Management - Network and infrastructure incidents are resolved efficiently with documented root-cause analysis and preventive actions where appropriate.
  1. Security & Compliance - Network and infrastructure platforms adhere to security standards, vulnerability remediation requirements, and compliance obligations.
  1. Successful Delivery of Projects & Changes - Infrastructure changes, upgrades, and deployments are completed successfully with minimal business disruption.
  1. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing - Technical documentation, runbooks, diagrams, and operational procedures remain current and support team effectiveness.

 

Sample Activities to Deliver the Goals

 

Hybrid Cloud & Infrastructure Services

  1. Support Azure networking, hybrid-cloud connectivity, VPN, and cloud-integrated infrastructure services.
  2. Maintain secure integration between cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
  3. Support Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, VMware, and related infrastructure platforms.
  4. Assist with lifecycle management, upgrades, patching, and modernization initiatives.
  5. Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and infrastructure resiliency activities.

 

 

Network Operations & Support

  1. Administer and support enterprise network infrastructure including Cisco, Meraki, and Fortinet platforms.
  2. Support routing, switching, wireless networking, VPN, firewall, and cloud-connectivity technologies.
  3. Monitor network performance, availability, and capacity while proactively identifying and resolving issues.
  4. Troubleshoot complex network, connectivity, security, and performance-related incidents.
  5. Participate in on-call rotations and provide escalation-level support for critical network issues.
  6. Implement approved network changes following established change-management processes.

 

Security & Compliance

  1. Implement and support firewall, segmentation, VPN, and access-control standards.
  1. Support vulnerability remediation, security reviews, and compliance activities.
  2. Collaborate with security teams to investigate and resolve infrastructure and connectivity risks.

 

Documentation & Process

  1. Maintain network diagrams, inventories, SOPs, runbooks, and technical documentation.
  2. Contribute to standardization, automation, and operational-improvement initiatives.
  3. Support knowledge transfer and cross-training efforts to improve team readiness.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years supporting enterprise infrastructure and network environments.
  • Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and identity-integrated infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting VMware or comparable virtualization platforms.
  • Experience supporting enterprise networking environments including routing, switching, wireless, VPN, and firewall technologies.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises infrastructure environments.
  • Experience supporting backup, recovery, and infrastructure resiliency solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure, network, security, and connectivity issues.
  • Experience with infrastructure and network monitoring, alerting, and operational support processes.
  • Strong communication, documentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Azure networking and Azure infrastructure services.
  • Experience supporting hybrid connectivity between cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Experience supporting AWS infrastructure or cloud-integrated services.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell or Python.
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring and network management platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, Meraki Dashboard, FortiManager, or similar tools).
  • Experience supporting regulated environments and audit requirements.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices and change-management processes.
  • Relevant networking, cloud, security, or IT service management certifications.
